Made a reservation for 3 days at a NYC hotel to celebrate a 50th birthday with 4 other couples. We all made our arrangements separately and unfortunately we used Priceline.
Paid in advance 4 months to guarantee price. When we arrived late at night due to weather delays, after travelling across the country we were told that Priceline had cancelled our room 2 weeks prior with no notice to us and the hotel was full. At that late hour the only hotel within 30 blocks cost $725!! and it was nothing special.
What Priceline offered when we called to straighten out the mess was for us to take a 45 min taxi ride back to JFK airport and stay at airport hotel. When we refused they cancelled the contract and refunded the original amount so we had no recourse to recoup the inflated hotel cost we were forced to pay. Visa had no dispute available as they had refunded our money but we had to eat the hotel room for $725.
I will tell everyone I know not to use this dishonest and unhelpful company. Buyer beware.
