Wrong Region, Non-refundable | Priceline review from New Orleans, Louisiana

To keep it brief: We went through their site, chose a specific region of our destination city in which we wished to book a hotel (French Quarter, New Orleans). We received a confirmation and accepted, only to discover our hotel was almost 3 miles outside of the selected region. When speaking with customer service, I was informed that because a specific street ran through both regions, any hotel in ANY region of the city that that street passed through was eligible if it met my other parameters. BS! By that logic they could have put me as much as 6-7 miles outside of our chosen area. The point of this vacation was a pleasent stay and casual wandering through the better parts of an historic neighborhood, not backpacking, or brawling for parking or sweltering through substandard public trans. Ugh.

Do not use Priceline Name Your Own Price

My wife and I booked tickets to the east coast in June for a vacation but had to cancel the trip. I contacted the airline to get a refund on tickets and they advised me to call Priceline directly. Upon contacting the customer service department, the gentleman with a harsh (almost incoherent) accent told me they will not refund my tickets per the airlines policy. This is absolutely unacceptable. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the man said no. No? Really? I was so baffled that he said no, I didn't know what else to say. So I asked for a link to Pricelines complaint department and he said "Good luck finding that on the website". Wow, unbelievably bad serviec. I will never use Priceline again for anything. Please do yourself a favor and buy directly from the airline or a real travel agent. Because when life throws emergencies at you, Priceline will not help you. They didn't even ask why I needed to be refunded.

You are an unbelievable bad customer. As the other commentor said you buy a non-refundable ticket and then waste everyone's time asking for a refund.

Since you undoubtedly read, this means that you intentionally sought to obtain a refund when you knew you were not entitled to it.

What kind of customer behavior would you call that. What you need to do is show you have some honorleft byabiding by the terms of the contract you agreed to, and not whining about not being able to weasle out of you agreement.

If you buy nonrefundable tickets from the airline or the travel agent you won't get a refund. Hence the term nonrefundable.

Don't Click on any Emails from Priceline

Clicked on a link in an email from Priceline and ended up with a two star hotel when I wanted a three star hotel. My fault for not looking closer, but Priceline doesn't care if you make an honest mistake. I called them immediately after making the reservation. They offered no remedy. Buyer Beware. Motel 6, which is only a one star :( hotel, has cheaper walk-in rates than most of the rates listed on Priceline.com. Recommend you purchase only 7.0 or higher hotels, I prefer 8.0 rated hotels. I have returned a day early on a couple of trips with NO refund from Priceline.com.

UPDATE!!!

After contacting a higher authority at Priceline, I received a phone call, and was allowed to cancel my flights. Thank you Priceline, for making it right.

Original review posted by user Mar 12, 2015

I used their "Name your own price" to purchase three airline tickets. I entered the info they requested and figured that I would be shown a few options to choose from. I was not. They booked me 3 tickets and charged my card. In fact, I am pretty sure they sold me the worst tickets available. 8 hours for a 3 hour flight, being re-routed all around the country. The flight arrived at 11:55pm on 3/23, and I needed to be checked in to the hotel on the 23rd, or I would not be eligible for the reduced rate that I had booked. I called and asked to change or cancel the tickets, but the customer service agent would not help. The accent was so strong that I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor's accent was worse. I had to ask him to constantly repeat himself. After trying to negotiate with him, he told me that they would do nothing to help. I asked to speak to his supervisor, and he refused, saying that he held the highest position. I began to get frustrated and told him that I would never be using Priceline again, and he told me that was fine, and then hung up on me. Overall, their reduced rate saved me $45 ($15 on each ticket), but cost me 5 hours in the air, and a missed day of vacation. Do not use this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel site price cheaper than Price Line's | Priceline review from Statesville, North Carolina

Details
Booked a hotel through Priceline. When I received my conformation, went to the hotel's link to check out the location and amenities. Saw that I could have gotten a cheaper rate if I had booked through the hotel. When I called Priceline to complain, the person on the other line wanted to argue that Priceline's price was more than the rate I received by naming my price. So? This still does not change the fact that I could have gotten a cheaper rate by just doing the "negotiation" myself. The "customer service" person was rude and incompetent. Will NEVER use them again

RUN-A-ROUND for trying to cancel / change flight | Priceline review from Albuquerque, New Mexico

Booked r/t flights on Priceline......even paid extra $$ for flight cancel insurance. I'm a disabled Viet-Nam veteran and a 68 y/o senior on Soc. Sec. 6 days before departure I fell and my prosthetic leg caused some very painful bruising. Next day, called the airline who told me to call Priceline. After one hour on the phone with a lady in the Philipines ( with a very bad accent ) I was told that refund was out of the question and finally tried to change to a trip 2 months later to a destination 1/2 of the cost of the original trip, after all was done I would have to pay ANOTHER $320 ( $380 + another $320 = $700 ) for a shorter r/t listing for $150 ?????

Priceline - Room Booking Review from Shasta Lake, California

Booked a room for a concert, day before the concert, it was rescheduled, tried to move reservation to 3 days later, even offered to pay any difference, but priceline refused to change it or refund any of our money. I called the hotel, they stated they would of gave us the same rate and would of been able to change the date. We will never use priceline again. They are frauds and will steal your hard earned money!!!!!

Priceline offered a room for a particular night that you agreed to. That room is still available.

The fact that YOU no longer want to use that room on the night you agreed to, does not make Priceline a fraud or a thief of your money.

Perhaps the party that should be criticized is you for agreeing to one thing, and then whining and calling names because you do not want to keep your end of the bargain.

Apparently you didnt read the review at all and are paid by priceline to help cover their dirty ways. I have an idea change your name on here to priceline employee since that is the only plausible reason for this post. If by some rare occurrence you dont work for priceline, go out immediately and get a life.

Given 3 star hotel instead of 3.5 star I bid on | Priceline review from Seattle, Washington

I bid $125 on a 3.5 star hotel today for San Francisco. I received a 3 star hotel -Hotel California -which has reg. rooms for my 2 nights at $139 right now. This is about a 15% savings, not the 35 to 40% that Priceline advertises. I called their customer service line immediately and was told I could get refund for 1 night and lose cost of 1 night. If I re-submitted another successful bid, I would only lose about $75. UNacceptable. What can be done? I will not use P. again with these business practices! They should either refund all my money or re-assign me to a 3.5 star hotel.

Horrible customer service | Priceline review from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Details
I booked a hotel that was able to be canceled within 24 hours of the reservation. A pop-up occurred asking if I wanted to book a rental car at a reasonable rate. I continued and booked the rental car at the same time. My business plans changed (which is why I needed the reservation which was changeable) and I immediately canceled my hotel reservation but was unable to cancel my car rental. When contacting the chat line was disconnected after waiting 15 minutes for an agent. Called the number and was on hold for another 20 minutes before hanging up. Contacted the chat line again and waited 12 minutes for an agent only to be told "too bad" the car rental is non-refundable. Terrible bait and switch booking tactics!

Deceitful practices, bad for business | Priceline review from Calgary, Alberta

Tried to give priceline a shot. But after hitting the submit button, only to realize I had no further options. What if I didn't want a cattle run all over the United States and wanted only non-stop. If I had known, I could have found those routes WITHOUT priceline. So, what service did they provide. Also, noticed that the name was incorrect but they wouldn't let me change it. I wasn't asking for a change in flight so why can't they just change my name? Sounds like a scam to me. Priceline did not notify me of this inflexibility prior to submitting my request. There is no protection to consumers for using there service. Buyer beware!

So you put down the wrong name and are then upset with them? Tickets are non-transferable.

There is probably some procedure, but it may well be that you need to start with the airlines as to whether they will accept the name.

This name thing is particularly important if a person is getting married, or knows their name is going to change by the time of the flight. One needs to make it in the new name, if you can get all your paperwork (driver licenses) changed by then.
