Priceline - DON' T TRUST

Do not trust this company what so ever .I will just write to save time .....but just an FYI ...I JUST READ that priceline brought out kayak.com though it will still be under the name kayak it will be run by priceline so you might want to stay away from this company too !!!! And what everyone says about getting your money back is impossible just because everyone in customer reads from a script and don't care how they treat you all i can say i hope karma gets to each and everyone of them twice over its only right !

Priceline cares less about customers!

I normally book 30+ hotel nights a year through Priceline and I've been a loyal referral program for them through word of mouth. That all ended this week when I accidentally hit two wrong nights on a 6 day trip. I immediately called PL to let them know I put in the wrong tuesday/wednesday based on their small little calendar that pops up and they indicated they could not help me. I spoke with a manager and they offered to credit back everything if I re-book a hotel, but with a $25 penalty. I wound up calling one of the hotels and they switched the dates and everything was fine, but the Ramada in Fargo canceled my room and was going to charge me separately. I wound up staying at a lesser expensive hotel to cover the $25 charge, the Ramada is out of a sold room tonight, and Priceline has lost a loyal customer and a great referral source. On a side note, new job in 2013 and my nights on the road will be closer to 80 this year. Oh well...I'm just another number and I would suggest if you can buy from Hotels.com or Expedia I would highly recommend it! Phil B Green Bay, WI

Priceline - No latitude on a botched reservation

Working online with Priceline, I accidently put in improper dates for a hotel reservation. I learned about this when I received a Priceline email asking me if I enjoyed the trip, which I never made. While I understood I would not receive a refund, Priceline would not consider any "break" for me making a reservation at the same hotel on the future (correct) date. They basically said "too bad." Apparently, this happens frequently, as the representative asked me to hold and five seconds later told me that he had checked with his supervisor and was sorry to inform me that nothing could be done for me. There is no customer service at Priceline. I will take my business to their competitors.

LadyScot, you have a clear grasp of the obvious that you accentuate to effectively with ALL CAPS and underlines. Great.

Of course it's my error. My point is that Priceline is completely impersonal and uninterested in customers'circumstances. They could have kept my money AND given me a nice deal at the hotel for the dates I would actually be there.

Apparently they feel they are so big and successful that they don't have to.

@Donnesha

They do not have to, that is the point. If you buy nonrefundable, even the airlines, the car rental agencies, and the hotel themselves will NOT refund you. Priceline is no different with nonrefundable fares. That is why they are cheap and why you have to accept it before you pay.

As for the underlines, I did not do those, the website does. It is called linking advertisements and is how pissedconsumer pays for this server. I did, however, do the caps. They are used for emphasis. Glad you caught that.

Too many people use 3rd arty bookers, make mistakes, then blame the sites for not refunding. It is annoying. Be more careful next time. Like I said, chalk it up to an expensive lesson and move on. OR, buy refundable fares or trip insurance. That is what trip insurance is for.

Nonrefundable is just that whether you book through the hotel, airline or car rental directly, or use a 3rd party booking site. Priceline, I know since I have used them several times, makes you AGREE to the charge and CONFIRM all information BEFORE you can even pay. So chalk it up as YOUR error and move on.

Priceline - Dishonest and careless with their customers.

I would like to explain my experience with the company "Priceline" Not only does it just give out false advertisement, but the customer service agents were very dishonest and could careless about customer satisfaction. I was taken for a $25 cancellation fee mistake on there end and had to book another hotel just to receive my refund! After booking another more expensive hotel (which I did not get a deal for because it was the same price as the hotels website) They call themselves giving me a "cash bonus" for the inconvenience, but only can be used if I bid again. (Which after this experience I will NEVER use Priceline again!) I was not even offered anything afterwards after being on the phone with them since 11am this morning until 5pm this afternoon. Most of my day wasted on fixing their mistakes. I will be spreading the word regarding the inconvenience, poor customer satisfaction, and false advertisement on my blog. Operators (so call) assisting me today : Ray, 2 C.S. agents, travis.

Priceline.com travel insurance rip off

I bought travel insurance and priceline refused to honor it. I tore a ligament in my knee and they wanted documentation from my physician. I was trying to cancel this 2 weeks before my trip. My physician faxes his diagnosis. He has a confirmation page that he scans back to me. Priceline claims they never got it. I send it back to priceline via email. They claim that it's not a valid confirmation. The debauchery continues. Not only did I speak to a customer service agent with little no English ability, Priceline never mentioned the level of detail they would require regarding their insurance claim process.

PRICELINE HIDES FEES FROM YOU !!!!!!

These cheating bas turds booked a Hotel for me when I put in "my price" I choose a 1 star hotel and choose 2 areas. My price was accepted for a 3 star hotel (I offered $35.00 for the first offer, that was refused and so I had to choose another area and up my price $2.00 to $37.00). The "3 star hotel" was a resort and when I checked in at 8o'clock at night they informed me that they stick you with a $16.00 "Resort Fee". THIS IS NOT FULL DISCLOSURE OF PRICING. It also is not fair to other hotels that I could have stayed at since the real price I didn't know. PRICELINE REFUSED TO REFUND THE RESORT FEE and is hiding behind the small print that says there may be other "incidental" fees. Incidental??? my ***. They know that the fee is not an option so why don't they have to tell you. WHERE IS THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS ON THESE CROOKS. Come on attorneys get busy!!! DO NOT USE PRICELINE PEOPLE!!!

Priceline - Refused refund

I booked a flight through Priceline and needed to cancel. My father had a massive heart attack and, long story short, I couldn't go. I called Priceline who told me that they would issue me a refund, so long as I gave them information on where my father was (the hospital name, number, etc), my father's name, and what happened to him. I gave them this information. They put me on hold, claimed to call the hospital and then came back on the line and said my father was no longer at the hospital. I told them that they must have something wrong. I asked them what they had for my father's name. It was wrong. I told them it was wrong. They told me that was the name I gave them. Um, I think I know my own father's name. He's been my father since I was born 30+ years ago. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor asked for the hospital phone number, and my father's name. He put me on hold, came back on the line and said that the hospital said my father wasn't there. I asked for the name of the hospital...and he gave me the wrong name! Seriously?! Priceline didn't even bother calling! At this point, I'm sitting in the airport, bawling my eyes out trying to figure out what to do. The woman from Delta came over, gave me a hug, and helped me on her end. She rescheduled my flight for a week later. When I get home, I find out that there's no way I can even take the trip now. My father was rushed to emergency surgery and things got crazy. The next day, Priceline emails me and says that I need to send them more information. I send them the letter from the doctor, on hospital letterhead, that states he's in the hospital because of a massive heart attack. Priceline emails me today and says I need to call them. I call, and what do I get...I get put on hold while the guy reads my record of complaints. He comes back on and says there's nothing they can do. Their records indicate that my father was never in the hospital. It's so nice to know that Priceline knows more than the hospital and the doctors. (Please read that with all the sarcasm it was written.) Thankfully, the insurance company seems to be working with me. We'll see how far that goes though. They are affiliated with Priceline!

Priceline books 3.5 star roach motel

Update by user Mar 07, 2013

Received the dispute results from Discover this morning. Priceline attached screen captures of my receipt and basically said that customer accepted upon purchase that there are no refunds, etc. At least I probably wasted $71 of their resources in the dispute.

I wanted to write you about a recent experience with Priceline. My girlfriend and I decided to take a fairly impromptu trip to Cincinnati to go to the zoo and see some friends, so we thought staying over one night would be a good idea. Booking a hotel through Priceline was easy, but it went way downhill from there. Priceline booked me in the Millennium Hotel, which looks nice on their own website. But once you get away from there and start looking at reviews on other sites, you quickly realize how bad of a decision this was. The most common complaint was bed bugs, and this appears to have been going on for years and there are even complaints about this as recent as January, 2013. Beyond that, a lot of complaints also revolve around poor maintenance, non-working heat (It was 25 outside this weekend), poorly cleaned rooms, dog *** in the closet, random stains, splatter marks on the walls from bed bugs that have been killed and unfriendly staff. I decided to look further thinking this was maybe just one site, but complaints were common on TripAdvisor, Yelp, Google, Bed Bug Registry, Orbitz, Expedia, even Priceline’s own site. There are plenty of user submitted photos to back up the complaints. After reading all of this, I decided to contact Priceline and see if they would allow me to cancel the reservation. I initially spoke with Marshall around 2pm on Friday who seemed very sympathetic when I said bed bugs, so he escalated me to Brenda in Customer Relations. Brenda then put me on hold for a few moments while she contacted the hotel. She came back to say that the manager was away from his desk and I would receive a call back when the manager contacts them. After a few hours, I had not heard back so I decided to call again. This time, I initially spoke with Rex who transferred me to Celine. Celine again put me on hold to contact the hotel and indicated she spoke with the first person who answered, the front desk clerk. The clerk indicated that they have no infestation of bed bugs and Celine immediately went in to her no refunds spiel. Even after I pointed out numerous complains on multiple sites, she stood firm with her ‘no refunds’ comments. I would have been willing to try to find another hotel via Priceline, but that was not an option. I closed the call indicating that we will not be staying there and I’ll take it up with my credit card company and filed a chargeback Saturday morning. We still went to Cincinnati, but I decided to try Hotwire instead. I was particularly fond of their search feature that lets you choose hotels based on % of recommended by other users. We ended up staying at a Crowne Plaza on the north side of Cincy and had a very pleasant experience. I used to use Priceline on occasion as I don’t travel a whole lot, but I will not be using their service again.

So you didn't even stay there? I'm sure there are just as many people who could post pictures of roaches or bedbugs from any other hotel (for more money at that).

Priceline's policies are pretty clear and upfront... Buyer beware.

No, we didn't stay there, as I mentioned in the post. There are plenty of travel sites and registries with complaints and pictures of this place. A good friend of mine stayed there the weekend before we were supposed to and confirmed all the problems as well.

Priceline - Rental Insurance Rip-off

I rented a car from Budget through priceline. I purchased the insurance through what I thought was Budget at the time of reservation for $11 per day. Had to cancel reservation for the car the day of pickup. Budget didn't charge me anything as I cancelled the reservation. Priceline decided they had to STEAL MONEY FROM ME for insurance that I never used since I did not pick up the car. They only were missing the GUN. But otherwise, these are theft bandits. I bet if there had been a reason to use the insurance that they would have found some NOT COVERED tid bit to use against me. But that is only a judgement based upon the fact that they have decided to charge for something that was not delivered. Should be a crime!
